Hello, my name is Elizabeth Pedraza. Last August I completed my Master of Arts Degree in Digital Communication and Media Arts at DePaul University. Now, I am working full-time at WQAD Channel 8 News in Moline, IL. Although I spend a lot of my time in the studio working on live broadcasts, I still find time to work on small side projects of my own that I am passionate about. Throughout my undergraduate years, I had many experiences that helped me become the person I am today. In the spring of 2014, I studied abroad for a semester at the University of Westminster in London. And throughout the 2014-2015 school year, I had the opportunity to live in the Vincent and Louise house which had me heavily involved with community service where I helped all types of people ranging through a variety of ages. During that spring, I experienced my first internship as I worked in the office of Viva Lundin Productions which helped strengthen a lot skills. In Summer 2016 and again this past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to work with the Chicago Park District’s summer program Movies in the Park. These works have allowed me to get a great deal of hands on experience with the lessons I learned from my courses as a graduate and an undergraduate student.
Today, I continue to make creative projects that inspire me. In my undergraduate, I was able to take many courses where I specialized with working in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite software. These skills have allowed me to focus on a variety of areas in Digital Media. Starting with Sound Design, I have created many projects that emphasize my skills with ProTools. To further broaden my areas of interest, I’ve also worked with Adobe’s Premiere Pro and AfterEffects for editing and visual effects. During my graduate year, I was also able to learn skills in working with Adobe’s InDesign for magazine and poster design. These being other areas of which I find great interest in. I plan to continue to perfect these skills as I continue my full-time work in broadcast.
